First team face Horndean away
The first team were in mid week action as they travelled to Cams Alders to face Fareham Town, seven points adrift of third bottom Whitchurch United. In a roller coaster evening, Fawley fell behind three times, only to come out eventual winners 4 v 3 to move a little closer to the three teams within conceivable catching distance. Kieran Roche took his league tally to nine with two goals on the evening, Callum Tanner and Ben Bolton scoring the third and fourth goals respectively.
The match report from Tuesday nights game is available on the Fareham Town website.
This saturday presents another challenge on the other side of the solent, this time we visit Horndean who are in good form aside from Tuesday nights defeat to top of the table Moneyfields, and find themselves in sixth position looking to end the season on a high. Earlier in the campaign Horndean took all three points in the reverse fixture winning 3 v 0.
Last season v Horndean
In 15/16 Fawley and Horndean played out 1 v 1 draws both home and away, Dan Fry scoring the goal in the away tie in March 2016 and Charlie Willett scoring the goal in the home game in September 2015. The team sheet from the September 2015 fixture is below:
Reserves face Poppies at home
Manager Lee Shepherd and his assistant Jack Hobbs' reserve side face no fewer than seven games in April, playing catch up on a number of cancellations earlier in the season, some due to the opposition not managing to assemble a team and also the temporary closure of our facilities.
Bournemouth Poppies reserves after a slow start are on a pretty good run of results and may face a tougher challenge than their league position suggests, having recently beaten league leaders Romsey Town 3 v 0. If Fawley are to win they could potentially move as high as third in the table, nine points behind league leaders Romsey with two games in hand.
Earlier in the season Fawley won this fixture 3 v 1. Come and support Lee and Jack's Oilers at home this saturday, with the title still to play for it should be a great game!
