Sydenhams Wessex Premier League & Non League Day: Cowes Sports v Fawley AFC (03/09/2016)

Saturday is the seventh installment of non league day which has grown in popularity each year, and highlights the strength and importance of grassroots football to the long term future of the game in this country.

We go into Saturdays game off the back of a 4 v 1 away defeat to much fancied local rivals Blackfield. Aside from being in the same league there aren't too many similarities between the clubs anymore with Blackfield having aspirations for promotion this season and attracting the likes of ex-professionals Tim Sills and Jamie White to play up front.. ca-chingggg!

A valiant effort by our lads including a goal for Pete Keating, debut for young defender Toby Cuss (Recently signed from Bashley) and a man of the match display from the tireless Kieran Roche who's delighted everyone at the club with his start to the wessex league campaign.

After conceding 25 goals in the first 7 league games there's certainly improvements to be made with our defensive unit!
