Fawley AFC are back in action this Saturday as they host Amesbury Town in the Sydenhams Wessex Division One. After a very tough afternoon against Romsey Town last weekend, The Oilers will be looking to bounce back to winning ways. It does not get any easier though because Amesbury are the league leaders, currently unbeaten in their last 8 matches and have scored 35 goals in that run. Fawley lost 4-0 in the reverse earlier this season and will have to put in a much better display to avoid any repeat.
Amesbury Town have been consistent and very strong all season, only losing once and currently leading the pack in what looks like a race between four clubs for promotion this season. Local rivals Hythe & Dibden currently sit in second place, whilst unbeaten AFC Stoneham occupy third spot (with games in hand). Romsey Town sit in fourth place after a very positive run of results.
Fawley however have not been consistent and are now in 10th position in the table, losing 10 league games already this season and a staggering 27 points behind their opposition on Saturday with only 21 games played each.
Any upset will have to be achieved with several absentees, as The Oilers are still missing several through injury and as usual the non league unavailability. Captain Dane Sayce, Declan Hartigan and Martin Buckthorpe will all miss the match. Long term injured Matthew Hawkins and Kieron Roche still keeps them away from the action. Ollie Bradley has broken into the regular AFC Totton squad and remains with them.
On a more positive note Adam French returns from injury and Ben Bolton only has one more match to serve out of his four game suspension. Chris Lucas has started playing in reserves matches after nearly a year out with a broken leg also.
